Wash Sale/Wash Trading	The entering into, or purporting or enter into, transactions to give the appearance that purchase and sales have been made, without any resulting change in the trader’s market position. Wash trading inflates daily trading volume and gives the appearance of a more active market. It can also generate unnecessary commissions and clearing fees if non member customer accounts are involved. A major CFTC no no.
Wet Barrel	An actual barrel of producer or crude petroleum as opposed to a “paper” barrel which appears only on a ledger.
Wet Gas	Natural gas containing condensable hydrocarbons which when liquefied are known as “condensate.”
Wire House	Out of date term for an FCM; a commission house.
Writer	The grantor or seller of an option.
